TONATIUH [Toh-nah-tee-oo, Xiuhtezcatl’s middle name and the Nahuatl word for “sun”] is the coming-of-age story of an artist rooted in his culture, community and land. Sung in English, Spanish, and Nawatl, Xiuhtezcatl explores the duality of trauma and healing in his lineage, honoring all that he has inherited despite the darkness he sees within himself and the world. The album features contributions from Trooko, Renata Flores, Nathan Willet of Cold War Kids, Adrien Quesada, Dallas Goldtooth, Mato Wayuhi and Esty, with award-winning visuals filmed in Xiuhtezcatl’s homelands of Xochimilco, Mexico.
A collaborative project by Xiuhtezcatl and producer Jaiia Cerff, XI:XI distills years of creative ideas, burnt harddrives, unreleased songs, near-death experiences and adventures into a powerfully executed body of work. Having spent their teenage years traveling the world together—from Aotearoa, New Zealand to Europe—this sonically ambitious project offers a timeless reflection of their youth.
Voice Runners is the creative collective of Xiuhtezcatl, Tru, and Jaiia Cerff, born from their experiences around the world from Mullumbimby, Australia, to Leimert Park, LA. Their music explores culture, identity and the transformative power of art, drawing on ancestral and musical roots in Belize and Mexico. The self-titled debut album showcases their versatility, conceptual depth and creative chemistry, blending genres and experiences into a uniquely uplifting sound.
